Αυτή είναι η ιστορία μου...
Προερχοντας αρχικά από πολύ μικρή ηλικία από τα άλογα και την κλασική ιππασία. Συναντήθηκα τυχαία με το Border Collie στο London Olympia, οπου ο αγώνας είχε μια επίδειξη με Agility στο τέλος. Φυσικά είπα απο μέσα μου, μα υπάρχει αγώνας για σκύλους με εμπόδια; Απίστευτο. Η ταχύτητα, η συγκέντρωση ήταν ένα θαύμα να το βλέπεις. Και πολλά χρόνια αργότερα, καθώς η ζωή έγινε πιο βαριά και σοβαρή, μετακομίζοντας σε διάφορες χώρες και καταλήγοντας πίσω στην Κύπρο, ο σύντροφός μου και εγώ αποφασίσαμε επιτέλους να αποκτήσουμε ένα σκύλο. Το οποίο δεν ήξερα ότι θα άλλαζε τη ζωή μου 180 μοίρες.
Μεγάλωσα με Papillons, επίσης μια πολύ έξυπνη φυλή γεμάτη ενέργεια και απίστευτη εξυπνάδα, αλλά δεν είχα ιδέα τι σημαίνει έντονη ενέργεια μέχρι που απέκτησα τον πρώτο μου Border Collie. Η αλλαγή στις ζωές μας ήταν μεγάλη για να προσαρμοστούμε στις ανάγκες της φυλής. Έτσι, και έκανα έρευνα για την εκπαίδευση συνεχώς, είχα καθοδήγηση από τους εκτροφείς μου, άλλους εκπαιδευτές και φίλους. Μέχρι το σημείο που ξεκινήσαμε να ανταγωνιζόμαστε σε εκθέσεις μορφολογίας. Πιστεύω ότι κάτι κλίκαρε μέσα μου εκείνη τη στιγμή και ξεκίνησε ο λεγόμενος "εθισμός"!
Είμαι φανατικός τύπος που δεν χορταίνει να διαβάζει και να ερευνά τα pedigree. Γνωρίζοντας ότι τα δικά μου σκυλιά κατάγονται από μερικά από τα καλύτερα σκυλιά που εργάστηκαν με πρόβατα, με εμπνέει τρομερά, κοιτάζοντας φωτογραφίες θρυλικών σκύλων του παρελθόντος, όπως τον Old Hemp, ένα ιδρυτικό σκυλί της σύγχρονης ράτσας κόλεϊ. Τόσοι πολλοί μοιάζουν τώρα εντυπωσιακά με αυτόν, παρά το γεγονός ότι έζησε σχεδόν πριν από έναν αιώνα. Υπάρχουν επί του παρόντος πολύ λίγες άλλες καθαρόαιμες ράτσες για τις οποίες μπορείτε να ισχυριστείτε το ίδιο. Σκυλιά απο τα οποία ο βασικός σχεδιασμός, ο χαρακτήρας και η λειτουργία τους έχουν μείνει τόσο σταθερά ανέγγιχτο για τόσο μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα.
Νιώθουμε μεγάλη τιμή που μπορούμε να μοιραστούμε την αγάπη μας για το Μπόρντερ Κόλεϊ. Προσπαθούμε να εξελισσόμαστε πάντα ως εκτροφείς Μπόρντερ Κόλεϊ και έχουμε μεγάλες φιλοδοξίες να συνεισφέρουμε θετικά σε αυτή τη φυλή που αγαπάμε τόσο πολύ. Παίρνουμε την υγεία, την εκπαίδευση και την αγάπη των σκύλων μας στο μέγιστο βαθμό. Όλα τα σκυλιά μας ελέγχονται για γενετικές ασθένειες. Μας αρέσει να μαθαίνουμε, να διδάσκουμε και να εκθέτουμε τα σκυλιά μας σε όλους τους τύπους εκθέσεων, ή μάλλον όσα μπορούμε να προλάβουμε.
Για χρόνια η μάθηση δεν σταμάτησε ποτέ και δεν θα σταματήσει ποτέ καθώς στόχος μας είναι να εκτρέφουμε σκύλους κορυφαίας ποιότητας. Τα κουτάβια Unleashed Borders μεγαλώνουν από τη γέννα μέχρι τη στιγμή που φεύγουν για τα νέα τους σπίτια με μεγάλη προσοχή. Πριν σχεδιάσουμε την πρώτη μας γέννα, εργάστηκα προσωπικά ένα χρόνο σε μια Κτηνιατρική Κλινική - Eliza Loizou Vet Clinic στη Λευκωσία/Κύπρος, βοηθώντας ως Βοηθός Κτηνίατρου και είχα πρακτική εμπειρία στη καισαρική τομή καθώς και φυσικές γέννες. Χρειάστηκα χρόνια να μάθω από τους δικούς μου εκτροφείς, φίλους εκτρωφείς, κριτές εκθέσεων και ακόμη και να δουλέψω στον Κυνολογικό Όμιλο Κύπρου μέχρι που τελικά έκανα το τελευταίο βήμα για να πάρω την απόφαση να γίνω εκτρωφέας. Είναι μεγάλη ευθύνη και δεν είναι αστείο. Όλοι οι καλοί και υπεύθυνοι εκτροφείς ξεκινούν με τη βοήθεια των δικών τους εκτροφέων, μαθαίνουν και ανταλλάσσουν πληροφορίες συνεχώς και αποκτούν εμπειρία και πάντα εξελίσσονται για τη βελτίωση και τη συμβολή στη φυλή που αγαπάμε. Τα κουτάβια μας θα είναι σπάνια και πιθανώς μία φορά το χρόνο, μέχρι νε εχουμε νεο μελος της οικογένειας. Η εκτροφή ελέγχεται πάντα προσεκτικά εκ των προτέρων για να διασφαλιστεί ότι όλα τα κουτάβια θα είναι εξαιρετικής ποιότητας. Τα κουτάβια είναι διαθέσιμα από αυτές τις γέννες σε (μερικές φορές) σπίτια σαν κατοικίδια, αλλά κυρίως σε σπίτια δουλειάς/Show που ελέγχονται προσεκτικά, δίνονται συνεντεύξεις πριν λάβουν ένα κουτάβι. Σε σπάνιες περιπτώσεις, μπορεί να δώσουμε ένα κουτάβι ως συνιδιοκτησία.
Όλα τα κουτάβια μεγαλώνουν με Puppy Culture και ENS. Τα Μπόρντερ Κόλεϊ είναι μια ευέλικτη φυλή και πρέπει να προκληθούν τόσο διανοητικά όσο και σωματικά όπου χρειάζεται. Το ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) και το Puppy Culture είναι προγράμματα εμπλουτισμού από πριν τη γέννα, Νεογνικό, Μεταβατικό, έως Κοινωνικοποίηση και κατάλληλη ψυχική διέγερση μέχρι να φύγουν για το σπίτι τους. Αυτός ο τρόπος σωστής τροφοδοσίας μιας γέννας είναι επιστημονικά αποδεδειγμένο ότι διαμορφώνει πιο σταθερά κουτάβια που μπορούν να αντέξουν περισσότερο άγχος στο μέλλον. Παρακολουθούμε προσεκτικά και προσαρμόζουμε το πρόγραμμα ανάλογα, καθώς όλα είναι επίσης προσεκτικά τεκμηριωμένα. Το πρόγραμμα ξεκινά από εμάς και συνεχίζει με τον ιδιοκτήτη, καθώς συμβουλεύουμε και παρέχουμε ένα πρόγραμμα άσκησης για τα κουτάβια, για να τα βοηθήσουμε να εξελιχθούν σε αυτό που σημαίνει να έχεις ένα κόλεϊ.
Όπως μας βοήθησαν οι εκτροφείς μας, έτσι και εμείς θα σας βοηθήσουμε. Δεν είμαστε ο τύπος των εκτροφέων που θα σας πουλήσουν έναν σκύλο και δεν θα κρατήσουν ποτέ επαφή. Όταν παίρνετε ένα σκύλο από εμάς, θα αποκτήσετε ένα μέλος της οικογένειάς μας και θα ακούσετε από εμάς και θα έχετε την υποστήριξή μας για όποιες ερωτήσεις μπορεί να έχετε και ακόμα κι αν δεν καταλήξετε να πάρετε ένα κουτάβι από εμάς, είμαστε πάντα εδώ για να βοηθήσετε με τυχόν ερωτήσεις. Είμαστε πολύ παθιασμένοι με τη φυλή και βοηθούμε τους άλλους να κατανοήσουν καλύτερα τη φυλή. Έχουμε βοηθήσει πολλούς ανθρώπους που έπεσαν θύματα της αγοράς κουταβιών byb Μπόρντερ Κόλεϊ από pet shops/puppy mills, που δεν ήταν προετοιμασμένοι ή δεν ήξεραν τι να περιμένουν από τη ράτσα. Βοηθήσαμε να μεταφερθούν σε κατάλληλα σπίτια ή/και βοηθήσαμε να εκπαιδεύσουμε και να τα συμβουλέψουμε ώστε να ικανοποιήσουν τις ανάγκες του αλλάζοντας τον τρόπο ζωής τους. Τα σκυλιά μας είναι ενεργά τόσο στη δουλειά όσο και στην έκθεση. Πιστεύουμε ότι είναι σημαντικό για τη φυλή να έχει δουλέψει τουλάχιστον και να έχει δοκιμαστεί το ένστικτο της βοσκής για να μην χάσει το νόημα πίσω από αυτό που σημαίνει να είναι Μπόρντερ Κόλεϊ. Τα σκυλιά μας είναι ενεργά ή έχουν δουλέψει με Frisbee, Obedience, Rally, Agility, Conformation και Heelwork. Καθώς είναι απαραίτητο να δοκιμασουν πολλα πράγματα, καθώς είναι μια τόσο ευέλικτη φυλή, έχουν επίσης προτιμήσεις σε αυτό που θέλουν να κάνουν ή σε αυτό που ταιριάζει περισσότερο στον χαρακτήρα τους.

This is my story..
Coming from a deep background with horses and classical riding, there came a point where i came across the border collie by chance in London Olympia, ending the show with agility. Of course this intrigued me, thinking woah a show-jumping dog? incredible. The speed, the focus was a wonder to look at. And so many years later, as life became more heavy and serious, moving countries and ending up back in Cyprus, my partner and i chose to finally get a dog. Little did i know it would change my life 180 degrees.
I grew up with Papillons, also a very intelligent breed and very high energy, but i had no idea what the word high energy ment until i got my own, first, border collie. It was no joke, the change in our lives was big to accommodate the needs of the breed. So i would research training all the time, have guidance from my breeders, other trainers, and friends too. Until the point we started competing together. I believe something clicked inside me at that point, and the so called obsession began! I'm the type of collie fanatic that can't get enough of reading and researching dog pedigrees. Knowing that my own dogs are descended from some of the best sheep working dogs ever seen inspires me tremendously. I get a buzz looking at pictures of legendary past dogs such as Old Hemp, a chief founding dog of the modern collie breed. So many border collies now look remarkably similar to him, despite the fact that he lived almost a century ago. There are currently very few other purebred breeds about which you can claim the same; dogs whose core design, character, and function have stayed so consistently untouched over such a long period of time.
We feel great privilege that we are able to share our love for the Border Collie. We strive to always evolve as Border Collie breeders, and have great aspirations in positively contributing to this breed we hold so dear to our hearts. We take health, training and loving our dogs to the fullest degree. All our dogs are screened and genetically tested for genetic diseases. We enjoy learning, teaching and exhibiting our dogs at all types of venues, or rather however much we can keep up with. For years the learning has never stopped, and will never stop as our aim is to breed top quality dogs. Unleashed Borders puppies are raised from birth to the moment they leave for their new homes with great care.
Before planning our very first litter I personally took a year working at a Veterinary Clinic - Eliza Loizou Vet Clinic in Nicosia/Cyprus, helping as a Vet Assistant and had hands on experience in helping with cesarean births as well as natural ones. It took years of learning from my own breeders, breeder friends, show judges and even working at the Cyprus Kennel Club until I finally took the final step in making the decision of becoming a breeder.
It is a big responsibility and no joke. All good and responsible breeders start with the help of their own breeders, learn and exchange information all the time and gain experience and always evolve for the betterment and contribution to the breed we hold so dear.
Our litters will be rare and possibly once a year, until a new member joins the family. The breeding is always carefully researched beforehand to ensure that all pups will be of great quality. Puppies are available from these litters to (sometimes) loving pet homes but mostly performance homes who are carefully screened, interviewed prior to receiving a puppy. At rare cases, we may give a puppy as co-ownership. All puppies are grown up with Puppy Culture and ENS . Border collies are a versatile breed and need to be challenged both mentally and physically where appropriate. ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and Puppy Culture are enrichment programs from Prenatal, to Neonatal, Transitional, to Socialization and appropriate mental stimulation until the time they leave for their homes. This way of properly whelping a litter is scientifically proven to shape more stable puppies that can withstand more stress in the future. We carefully monitor and adjust the program according to each milestone they reach, as everything is also carefully documented. The program starts with us and continues with the owner as we advice and provide a puppy exercise program, to help them grow into what it is to have a border collie. Like our breeders helped us, we will help you. We are not the type of breeders that will sell you a dog and never keep contact. When getting a dog from us, you will be getting a member of our family, and will hear from us and have our support for any questions you may have and even if you don't end up getting a puppy from us we are always here to help with any questions.
We are very passionate about the breed and helping others understand the breed better. We have helped many people who have fallen victim to buying border collie puppies from pet shops/puppy mills, who were not prepared or didn't know what to expect from the breed. We helped rehome said dogs to appropriate homes and/or helped train and advice them to accommodate the needs of their border collie by changing their lifestyle. Our dogs are active in both work and show. We believe it is important for the breed to have worked at least and herding instinct tested to not loose the meaning behind what it is to be a border collie. We are preservation breeders. Our dogs are active or have worked with Frisbee, Obedience, Rally, Agility, Conformation and Heelwork. As it is essential to challenge them, being such a versatile breed, they too have preferences to what they want to do, or what suits their character more.

I'm the type of collie fanatic that can't get enough of reading and researching dog pedigrees. Knowing that my own dogs are descended from some of the best sheep working dogs ever seen inspires me tremendously. I get a buzz looking at pictures of legendary past dogs such as Old Hemp, a chief founding dog of the modern collie breed. So many border collies now look remarkably similar to him, despite the fact that he lived almost a century ago. There are currently very few other purebred breeds about which you can claim the same; dogs whose core design, character, and function have stayed so consistently untouched over such a long period of time.
We feel great privilege that we are able to share our love for the Border Collie. We strive to always evolve as Border Collie breeders, and have great aspirations in positively contributing to this breed we hold so dear to our hearts. We take health, training and loving our dogs to the fullest degree. All our dogs are screened and genetically tested for genetic diseases. We enjoy learning, teaching and exhibiting our dogs at all types of venues, or rather however much we can keep up with. For years the learning has never stopped, and will never stop as our aim is to breed top quality dogs. Unleashed Borders puppies are raised from birth to the moment they leave for their new homes with great care.
Before planning our very first litter I personally took a year working at a Veterinary Clinic - Eliza Loizou Vet Clinic in Nicosia/Cyprus, helping as a Vet Assistant and had hands on experience in helping with cesarean births as well as natural ones. It took years of learning from my own breeders, breeder friends, show judges and even working at the Cyprus Kennel Club until I finally took the final step in making the decision of becoming a breeder.
It is a big responsibility and no joke. All good and responsible breeders start with the help of their own breeders, learn and exchange information all the time and gain experience and always evolve for the betterment and contribution to the breed we hold so dear.
Our litters will be rare and possibly once a year, until a new member joins the family. The breeding is always carefully researched beforehand to ensure that all pups will be of great quality. Puppies are available from these litters to (sometimes) loving pet homes but mostly performance homes who are carefully screened, interviewed prior to receiving a puppy. At rare cases, we may give a puppy as co-ownership. All puppies are grown up with Puppy Culture and ENS . Border collies are a versatile breed and need to be challenged both mentally and physically where appropriate. ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and Puppy Culture are enrichment programs from Prenatal, to Neonatal, Transitional, to Socialization and appropriate mental stimulation until the time they leave for their homes. This way of properly whelping a litter is scientifically proven to shape more stable puppies that can withstand more stress in the future. We carefully monitor and adjust the program according to each milestone they reach, as everything is also carefully documented. The program starts with us and continues with the owner as we advice and provide a puppy exercise program, to help them grow into what it is to have a border collie. Like our breeders helped us, we will help you. We are not the type of breeders that will sell you a dog and never keep contact. When getting a dog from us, you will be getting a member of our family, and will hear from us and have our support for any questions you may have and even if you don't end up getting a puppy from us we are always here to help with any questions.
We are very passionate about the breed and helping others understand the breed better. We have helped many people who have fallen victim to buying border collie puppies from pet shops/puppy mills, who were not prepared or didn't know what to expect from the breed. We helped rehome said dogs to appropriate homes and/or helped train and advice them to accommodate the needs of their border collie by changing their lifestyle. Our dogs are active in both work and show. We believe it is important for the breed to have worked at least and herding instinct tested to not loose the meaning behind what it is to be a border collie. We are preservation breeders. Our dogs are active or have worked with Frisbee, Obedience, Rally, Agility, Conformation and Heelwork. As it is essential to challenge them, being such a versatile breed, they too have preferences to what they want to do, or what suits their character more.

She was a dear friend, a mentor to many. Victoria was an approved five-star breeder by the UKMASC, an esteemed representative of the American Miniature Shepherd association and the driving force behind "Iron Paws Kennel". She would help us and guide us through the world of dog sports and so much more. As she departs from this earth, she will never truly leave, as she is still alive in our hearts and minds.
